Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains travel and work as reasons to learn a language, while the second gives wider benefits such as understanding culture and accessing educational material. Your opinion is also stated in the introduction. However, the discussion is only partial and the position is not consistently clear: “I partly agree” is not fully reconciled with your later statement that you agree because language learning has many benefits. Several points, including studying abroad and improving communication, are mentioned but not explained with enough detail. The conclusion repeats ideas rather than drawing them together. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum, so add a little relevant development as well as clarifying your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate the two sides of the discussion. This gives the reader some overall organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from travel and work to studying without clearly linking these points, while the second lists culture, books, films, memory and communication with little explanation of how they connect. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “Also” are used, but some links feel mechanical or do not make the relationship between ideas clear. Improve cohesion by developing one main point at a time and using clear references and transitions between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “communicate,” “culture,” “literature,” “international courses” and “education,” so the reader can identify the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “learning new language” and “communication skill.” Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word forms—such as “foreigh,” “significate,” “communcation” and “learninhg”—make the writing harder to read. Some combinations are also unnatural, for example “book hotal” and “highly benefit for study.” Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling and collocations; this will make your meaning clearer and allow you to express the ideas with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response includes some attempts to connect clauses. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “It also help them” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “They learning new language read book” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase and clear sentence structure. The opening and conclusion also contain run-on or fragment-like sentences, with inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation. These problems sometimes make the intended relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using controlled clauses and check each sentence for a subject and a finite verb.
