Student answer (Band 4.5)

Some individual say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say thet these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language. In my opinion, foreign language learning should be beneficial for us because our working opportunities increase in other countries.

It is noted that, foreign language is beneficial for many reasons, for instance, we work in different companies through remotely and physically based on the language. Like if we learn German langauge, then we work in Germany as employee's in office and we do not face any difficulty related to language barrier. We can engage face to face and we can presentation in the office. However, the language is also very crucial in other country, without language we can not survive in local community. For instance, we do not understand talking style during working in market and if we go for shopping we face these problems. Furthermore, if we know about language, then we do not face any problem during travelling in country from one city to another city for visting.

On the other hand, some people say that these are not the only reasons, why someone should learn a foreign language. Foreign language should be learning beneficial for individuals because working opportunities inrceased in the country. Some individual foreign language learn as they want to achieve this goal in life, not the other reason. Because, they feel to happy after learning second language, not for travelling or work but for own desire to adopt language.

Overall, learning second language beneficiall for us, because we should more know about second country and we can work in other country. Furthermore, we can teach on own country in schools and universities. However, In my opinion, foreign language is crucial in both ways for us.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give an opinion, so the response is relevant to the question. The first main paragraph explains practical reasons for learning a language, including working in Germany, communicating with colleagues, shopping and travelling. You also mention personal enjoyment and learning “for own desire” as reasons beyond work or travel. However, the discussion of the second view is brief and unclear, and your opinion shifts: the introduction focuses on work opportunities, while the conclusion adds teaching in local schools without explaining this point. Develop the non-practical reasons with a specific example and state your position consistently. The 52 words copied from the task prompt were not counted; the response meets the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Furthermore” and “Overall” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, ideas are not always arranged in a clear progression. The first body paragraph combines employment, community life, shopping and travel, while the second repeats the claim about work opportunities before introducing personal enjoyment. Some links are also unclear, particularly “Some individual foreign language learn as they want to achieve this goal in life.” Give each paragraph one clear purpose, use topic sentences to signal it, and connect examples directly to the point they support. This would make the overall argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “language barrier,” “working opportunities,” “local community” and “second language.” These choices help communicate the main subject and practical examples. However, the range is limited, and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make parts of the response awkward or unclear, such as “we can presentation,” “talking style,” “feel to happy” and “beneficiall.” Repetition of “foreign language,” “work” and “country” also limits flexibility. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for personal, cultural and professional motivations, and check spelling and natural word combinations. More precise vocabulary would help express the less practical reasons clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “if” and “however.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “Foreign language should be learning beneficial for individuals” has an unclear sentence structure, and “we can not survive in local community” is missing an article. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms, as in “Some individual say” and “we can presentation.” Review basic sentence patterns, subject–verb agreement, articles and verb forms, then proofread each sentence to ensure it has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
