Student answer (Band 4.0)
Some individuals believe that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to work or explore foreign country and other think that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language. Both sides of argument will discussed in this eassy before a conclusion is reached.
To commence with, learning the foreign language for exploring foreign country or work in foreign country. I agree with them, for instance, many students or workers go to foreign countries for studies or work. If there are able to speak foreign language then they face less problems. They easily survive there and enjoy theirs life. Foreign countries allow part time work to student if they are good skills to speak foreign language then they get work easily. They work at good places with good salary and if someone facing issue to speak foreign language then getting job will be difficult task for them. After learning foreign language we can enjoy their culture and explore more things. We can communicate with others it will be very helpful for us. If someone get ill then they can talk with doctors and understand easily.
Others beleive that these are not the raesons why some should learn a foreign language. yes

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify both views in the opening and give relevant reasons for learning a language for work or travel, including finding employment, enjoying local culture, and speaking to a doctor. However, the response develops almost entirely the first view: the opposing view is only introduced in the final line (“Others believe…”) and is not explained, and your own opinion is not clearly established beyond “I agree with them.” The essay also ends abruptly, without a conclusion. The response contains 182 words, so it is 68 words below the 250-word minimum; 27 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To address the task more fully, explain at least one reason for learning languages beyond travel and work, support both sides with examples, and state your position clearly in a complete conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the debate, and “To commence with” signals the first main point. The examples about study, employment, culture, and medical situations are broadly related to that point. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are joined in a long sequence without clear paragraphing or explanation of how they connect. The transition to the second view (“Others believe…”) comes only at the end, and “yes” leaves the argument unfinished. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each example explicitly to its main idea. A complete ending would also help the reader see how your discussion leads to your conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “foreign language,” “part time work,” “culture,” “communicate,” and “doctors.” Some phrases also show an attempt to express specific situations, such as “get work easily” and “understand” a doctor. However, vocabulary is repetitive, and several word choices or collocations are unnatural or unclear, including “exploring foreign country,” “enjoy theirs life,” and “good skills to speak foreign language.” There are also spelling errors such as “eassy,” “beleive,” and “raesons.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing language learning, and check spelling and collocations so your meaning is conveyed more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to link ideas using “if” and “then.” This allows the reader to understand the broad point, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include the missing auxiliary in “Both sides of argument will discussed,” the incorrect conditional form “If there are able to speak,” and agreement errors such as “If someone get ill.” Articles and plurals are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “foreign country” and “to student.” Some sentences run together, making relationships between ideas less clear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete conditional sentences first; then use a wider range of sentence structures while checking punctuation and sentence boundaries.
