Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You introduce both views and state a position, saying that learning a language has benefits for travel and employment. The response also begins to discuss wider benefits, such as understanding other cultures and building relationships. However, the discussion is only partial: the first view receives a brief example, while the second view is left unfinished at “people can understand to their courses and languagues.learning ano”. Your own opinion is not clearly developed beyond the opening sentence, and the ideas need explanation and relevant examples. The response is also 81 words below the required minimum, which limits how fully you can address the task. Develop each view in a complete paragraph and explain why your position is convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by paragraphs for the two views, and signposts such as “For example,” “Firstly,” and “Secondly” help indicate the direction of ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because the second body paragraph ends abruptly and several points are not connected or explained. The contrast markers “In the one hand” and “In the other hand” are also used inaccurately, and the transition from cultural understanding to courses is unclear. Paragraphing is present, but the essay lacks a complete conclusion and a clear final progression. Use accurate contrast phrases, connect each supporting point to its main idea, and finish with a conclusion that restates your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “communicate,” “local residents,” “customers and coworkers,” “cultures,” and “relationship.” These choices show an attempt to discuss practical and cultural reasons for language learning. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, for example “neccessary,” “collageous,” “somone,” “Morover,” and “traditionals.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “many advantage apart for travelling” and “understanding the local language to eaiser.” Build a more accurate set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For instance, use “employment opportunities” and “cultural traditions” in place of less natural expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer structures, including “The main reason is that people need to communicate…” and the conditional example beginning “if someone travel…”. However, the range is limited, and errors in basic sentence construction occur frequently. Examples include “It is often argue,” “Other believe,” “there are several reason,” and “its helps,” where verb forms, agreement, or sentence structure are not controlled. The conditional example also needs a correctly formed clause, and punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add complex clauses while checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms.
