Student answer (Band 4.5)
the people who say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country are actually true from there point of view because if they don't learn that language they will be in great trouble in learning the exam and also dealing with other students and teachers that why it's important for them to learn that language similarly the person who want to work abroad also need to learn the language because tgey need to communicate with other person in order to introduce there thing which is to sell and buy from them so communication between then which ultimately refer to learn that language while some people say we have to learn different languages this is also good because of their interest in learning language or that type of person want to do something new in their life so they do different things and always hungry for learn something new. In my opinion learning different languages are goog as they help us to communicate with different people, intract with different personalities and new way of having their ideas and sharing our ideas with them which ultimately helps both of them

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and give a personal opinion: you explain why travellers and people working abroad may need the local language, then say that learning languages can also reflect curiosity and help people exchange ideas. However, these points are brief and not supported with a specific example or much explanation, so the discussion remains limited. Your position is present, but it would be clearer if you stated it directly and consistently—for example, that practical needs are important but not the only valid reason. The response is 179 words, 71 words below the 250-word minimum; 22 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each view in a separate paragraph and add relevant examples to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response contains a recognisable sequence: it first discusses travel and work, then introduces other motivations with “while some people say,” and ends with your opinion. This gives the reader a basic sense of the argument. However, nearly all the ideas are compressed into one long sentence, with few clear boundaries or paragraph breaks. Linking words such as “because,” “similarly,” and “which ultimately” are repeated or used in ways that make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For instance, the explanation about selling and buying is joined to the point about communication without a clear sentence break. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect shorter sentences with precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “communicate,” “different languages,” and “sharing our ideas,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There are also attempts to express less familiar ideas, such as being “hungry for learn something new,” but this phrase is not idiomatic and several spelling or word-choice errors distract the reader: “there point of view,” “tgey,” “goog,” and “intract.” Some expressions are vague, including “introduce there thing,” which does not clearly explain what workers need to communicate about. Build a more accurate range for discussing language learning, such as “cultural exchange,” “career opportunities,” and “broaden one’s perspective,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas using subordinate clauses and reasons, as in “because if they don't learn that language,” but the response relies heavily on one extended sentence. This makes it difficult to control sentence boundaries and punctuation, and there is little evidence of a range of accurately managed sentence forms. Agreement and verb patterns are also inconsistent: “the person who want” and “learning different languages are” do not match their subjects, while “want to do something new … so they do” shifts between singular and plural. Articles and plural forms also need attention. Practise writing shorter complete sentences first, then combine them selectively; check subject–verb agreement and verb forms before submitting.
