Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are a lot of foreign languages. Most individuals learn new languages for travelling or working in another countries, while most of the people believe that these are not the real purpose for learning foreign languages. This essay will examine these views in more precisely.
Firstly, most important reasons behind this phenomenon is easy to communicate with foreigners. Most of the people learn foreign languages to easy the communication when they are in their travel or work. Visitors, for instance, has to know the local language for shopping or get another facilities. Therefore, knowing foreign languages help to remove the barrier between the locals and the foreigners. Closely linked to this phenomenon is they will get basic facilities whatever they want such as health, education and so on. People, for example, lived in foreign country for livlihood. They face various types of difficulties without knowing their local language. As a result, learning foreign languages important to ease the travelling and working methods.
Neverthless, foreign languages also help to enrich knowledge about the culture and the places. Most individuals can gain external knowledge about the place and culture. Travellers, for example, can learn about the tradition by talking with local peoples. Therefore, foreign languages will help the knowledge seekers. Similarly, new languages help to future career. Because there are a lot of coachings or private tuitions which provides the learning session of different languages. So, if anyone have already learn the foreign language, they will give sessions for money, which helps them to give financial support. Therefore, learning foreign laanguages help to open several opportunities in future career.
In conclusion, from my perspective, learning a foreign language is more helpful in a foreign country, whenever individuals visit or work there.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains practical reasons for learning a language when travelling or working, while the second introduces cultural learning and future career opportunities. However, the discussion is only partial. The cultural point is relevant, but the career example focuses on giving language lessons for money rather than clearly explaining why this is a broader reason to learn a language. Your own position appears only in the conclusion, where you say learning is “more helpful in a foreign country”; this largely supports the travel-and-work view, but does not explain why you consider it more important than the other reasons. Develop each side with clearer reasoning and examples, and state your position consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing therefore gives the reader a basic structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several linking phrases are repetitive or do not show the relationship between ideas accurately. For example, “Closely linked to this phenomenon” introduces a point about basic facilities without making the connection clear, while “Therefore” is used repeatedly to conclude similar claims. The second body paragraph also shifts from cultural knowledge to teaching languages for income without a clear transition. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, explain it before adding an example, and use referencing and connectors more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “communication,” “barrier,” “tradition,” “opportunities,” and “financial support,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning awkward: “easy the communication,” “get another facilities,” and “learning session” are examples. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “Neverthless,” “livlihood,” and “laanguages.” These issues fit a response where vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic points but control is inconsistent. Build a bank of natural topic collocations and check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including examples introduced with “for instance” and a conditional structure beginning “if anyone…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “most important reasons… is” has a subject–verb agreement problem; “Visitors… has to know” also has incorrect agreement; and “if anyone have already learn” contains errors in both the verb form and agreement. Some sentences are fragments, such as “Because there are a lot of coachings…” Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then combine them using subordinate clauses while checking each subject and verb.
