Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You refer to both reasons in the prompt: travelling or working abroad, and learning about other people, languages, and cultures. Your opinion is also stated, for example, “we should learn about foreign languages.” However, the discussion is very general and does not clearly explain or compare the two views; several points repeat the idea that languages help people communicate. There are no specific examples to support the claims, and the conclusion does not summarise a developed argument. The response is 217 words, so it is 33 words below the required minimum; 40 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain each view in a separate, developed point, give a relevant example, and make your own position more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce language learning, discuss communication and travel, state your opinion, and add a final point about jobs and culture. Linking expressions such as “and,” “in my opinion,” and “in other word” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because points are repeated and the response is not divided into clear paragraphs. For example, the ideas about going abroad and being unable to speak with people recur without a clear distinction between the two views. Use separate paragraphs for the opposing views, your opinion, and the conclusion, and connect each sentence to a new, clearly explained point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

You use a small set of relevant words, including “language,” “countries,” “culture,” “jobs,” and “peoples,” so the general topic is usually recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and highly repetitive, particularly “different,” “learn,” and “other,” which limits precision and makes several ideas sound alike. There are also frequent spelling and word-form problems, such as “foregin,” “diffren,” and “opnion,” and some unnatural combinations, including “meet with different culture of peoples.” These issues sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Build a topic vocabulary set and practise accurate collocations, such as “communicate with local people,” “experience another culture,” and “employment opportunities abroad.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

You attempt to express reasons and opinions using simple clauses, and some intended relationships between ideas can be understood. However, sentence structures are very limited, and errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur throughout. For example, “the foreign language in is helps to us” has an unclear subject and verb pattern, while “we can should learn” combines modal verbs incorrectly. Long strings joined with “and” also make sentence boundaries unclear. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex forms with “because,” “although,” and “for example.” Check subject–verb patterns, modal verbs, and full stops so each sentence communicates one complete idea.
