Student answer (Band 5.0)
Debates and discussions have been around and it is an intinsic element of bein g a human . There are many groups of people who always differ from each other in certein topics .One such topic is learning foreign langauge . In this essay i will discuss both ideas and also give my opinion using a pragmatic approach .
On one hand some people say that reason for learning of foreign langauge is for the purpose of work or for travel to a foreign country .when a person travels through the the he should know the diiferent languages .He should be aware to the certain language of the certain area of country so it is important to lraaaearn a foreign language .For instance if a person travels to america and he is not familiar to english language which will obviously cause problem for that person in the process of immigration and in searching for their hotels and they may face many more problems . It is also important for work in a foreign country if a perrson will not familiar to there language then how could he work with them .
On the other hand , many peaple say that this is not the reason for learning a foreign language .There are also many more reasons for learning a foreign language .One such reason may be studing in abroad .
There are always different reasons to support such idea and potential evidence to support discussions and ideas .Through thr discusions and ideas above I construe that foreign language is important for many purposes learning foreign language for working in foreign countries and moving to there may be a reason but it is also important for studying in foreign countries so it is important for many purposes not only for working or for travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and state a position: travel and work are presented as reasons to learn a language, while studying abroad is offered as another reason. The travel example about arriving in America gives some relevant support. However, the second view is developed only briefly, and studying abroad is named without explaining how language learning helps with education or what other motivations might exist. Your conclusion repeats the main point but does not add much development, and the opening comments about debate do not help answer the question. To strengthen the response, explain both sides in comparable detail and make your own view more explicit and consistently supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, paragraphs beginning “On one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a concluding paragraph. These signposts help readers identify the two views. However, progression within and between paragraphs is limited: the second-view paragraph contains only one brief reason, then the conclusion introduces a general statement about “different reasons” without developing it. Several ideas are repeated, especially that language is important for work, travel, and study. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “there” in “moving to there” are unclear. Organise each body paragraph around a clear main idea, explain it, and connect the example directly to that idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “immigration,” “studying abroad,” and “purposes,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and key phrases are repeated frequently, particularly “reason for learning a foreign language” and “important.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “intinsic,” “certe in,” “langauge,” and “construe,” which can distract the reader or make meaning less clear. Some combinations are unnatural, for example “aware to the certain language” and “searching for their hotels.” Build a more accurate range of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make your ideas clearer and less repetitive.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if a person travels to America…” and “if a person will not familiar…”. However, the range is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction occur throughout, as in “the reason for learning… is for the purpose,” “if a person will not familiar,” and “how could he work with them.” Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and lowercase “i.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise accurate conditional sentences and basic clause structure before adding more complex forms.
