Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views: the second body paragraph gives reasons for learning a language for work or travel, while the next mentions enjoying Spanish films, music, podcasts, novels and news. Your conclusion also indicates that language learning has several purposes. However, the discussion is only partial because the second view is much less developed, and your own opinion is not stated clearly as a distinct position. The examples about a student communicating in a foreign workplace and a traveller asking for directions are relevant, but their explanations are difficult to follow and sometimes overgeneralised. To strengthen the response, explain why cultural or personal interests matter to you and make your position explicit in the introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the main topics. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links are unclear or mechanical. For example, “There are several compelling reason” introduces the first view, but the following sentences move between education, work, and travel without a clear sequence. The phrase “There are some points which considearable in second view” does not clearly signal the relationship between the ideas that follow. Use a clear topic sentence for each paragraph, then develop one point at a time with an explanation or example. Check that pronouns such as “they” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “academic,” “native language,” and “culture,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “compelling” and “particular field.” However, the range is limited and errors in spelling, word form, and collocation are noticeable, sometimes making meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “interept,” “knowleage,” “considereable,” and “culcure,” as well as the unnatural phrase “intend with a foreign culture.” Repetition of “foreign language” and “people” also limits flexibility. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; prefer natural combinations such as “communicate with local people” and “experience another culture.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea beginning “if students are go for the abroad” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries can make the argument hard to follow. For example, “they must be require know foreign language” combines incompatible verb patterns, while “Some people are try to learn” uses an incorrect progressive form. The opening also joins several independent ideas with commas, creating a run-on sentence. Practise reliable patterns such as “If students go abroad, they need to know the language” and separate complete ideas with full stops.
