Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a relevant opinion: you reject the view that foreign languages are useful only for travel or overseas work, and you mention confidence, communication, and opportunities in one’s home country. However, the discussion is only partial and the reasons are under-developed. The first supporting paragraph mostly repeats the view that language learning is unnecessary, without explaining why people hold it or giving a concrete example. Your own position is also not fully consistent: you say it is beneficial, but later write, “I am completely disagree with the statement,” which appears to oppose the view you have argued against. The response is 23 words below the 250-word minimum; the 20 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop both views with specific examples and state your position consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the broad stages of your argument. You also use linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore.” However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several links feel repetitive or mechanical, particularly “Additionally” and “Beside that.” Some connections between ideas are unclear: the point that learning a language helps someone “to recognised differently” is not explained, and the conclusion’s “Nevertheless” introduces a contrast that does not clearly follow. Build each paragraph around one main point, explain it, and connect it to a relevant example; use referencing and transitions that make the relationship between ideas explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “opportunities,” “remote work,” and “communicate confidently,” so the main subject is clear. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make the writing less precise, such as “benificial,” “supportes,” “inhance,” and “a wide range of opportunity.” Some phrases are also awkward or unclear, including “helps you to recognised differently” and “day to day life work.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding more complex words: for example, explain that language skills can improve employment prospects or help people communicate with visitors. Proofread spelling and check whether nouns and verbs are used in the correct forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if they are getting in any trouble.” However, many sentences contain grammatical errors, and some structures make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Various individuals believe that learning a foreign language in order to travel…” is an incomplete sentence, while “I am completely disagree” uses an incorrect verb pattern. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “it boost your confidence” and “it help you.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb patterns when editing. More accurate control of these basic structures will make your ideas easier to understand.
