Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a relevant opinion that learning languages has value beyond travel and work, mentioning friendship, education, books, and cultural knowledge. However, the two views in the question are not clearly discussed as separate arguments: travel and work are mentioned, but the benefits of learning a language for these purposes are not explained, and the alternative reasons are mostly listed rather than supported. The position is also difficult to follow because the opening is unclear and the conclusion mainly repeats that languages are important. The response meets the stated length requirement; 12 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count. To strengthen the response, explain each view with a specific reason and example, then state your own position clearly and consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a recognisable attempt to move from an opening opinion to supporting points and a conclusion, and phrases such as “for instance” and “In conclusion” signal relationships between ideas. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the discussion of the two views is not clearly organised. Ideas also shift abruptly—for example, from travel and education to fear of mistakes, then to books and culture—and some links are unclear, as in “I think that, furthermore.” Repeated references to language being “very important” do not create a clear progression. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each view, and the conclusion, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “education,” “conversation,” “books,” and “culture.” These words make the general subject understandable, and “accumulated to their knowledge” appears to aim at expressing a learning benefit. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “conversation of foreign people,” “learn from foreign language person,” and “easily conversation.” There are also spelling and form problems, including “foriegn” and “different county.” Build a more precise set of expressions for the task, such as “communicate with local people,” “broaden one’s knowledge,” and “experience another culture,” and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer conditional or subordinate structures, including “if people don't learn foreign language they face many challenges” and “Although, students will go to foreign country for education.” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas. However, errors in sentence structure and basic grammar are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “it help to make a new friend,” “Other say that are not the only reason,” and “If any person is learn foreign languages.” Articles, subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries need more reliable control. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with “because,” “if,” and “although”; also check that each sentence has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
