Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a relevant position: you consider language useful for study and employment abroad, and you add cultural and religious understanding as other reasons. The example of Ali’s difficulty finding work in Germany supports the employment point. However, the discussion of the first view is much fuller than the alternative view, which is mainly limited to learning culture and religion. The essay also does not clearly explain why people might learn languages for reasons beyond living or travelling abroad, such as personal interest or communicating with people in their own country. Your opinion is present, but it shifts between saying language is necessary for settling abroad and calling it crucial in all aspects of life. Develop both views more evenly and state a consistent position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The phrases “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the introduction repeats “While” in a way that creates an incomplete contrast. Several ideas are joined mechanically, including the shift from students’ needs to employment in the first body paragraph. The sentence beginning “It will help them” is also separated from its continuation, disrupting the flow. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make sure each paragraph develops one main point in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “higher education,” “native people,” “employment,” and “religious activities,” so the main subject is clear. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “crucial,” “foreign language,” and “foreign nation,” and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. For example, “knowledge of a abroad language” and “job placement” do not express your intended meaning naturally; “learn the religion” is also imprecise in this context. Spelling errors such as “oppotunity,” “relegion,” and “alot” are noticeable. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully, while avoiding repetition through suitable alternatives such as “language skills” or “overseas.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors are frequent, and some complex constructions are faulty. For instance, “While some people argue…” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence, and “While i believe…” has the same problem. Verb forms are inconsistent in “it helped students” and “they could not find any job,” where the surrounding discussion is general. There are also errors in articles and sentence construction, as in “a foreign language in necessary” and “for learn the local culture.” Capitalise “I,” use complete sentences rather than starting standalone clauses with “While,” and check verb forms and agreement when describing general situations.
