Student answer (Band 4.0)

Both are right but in my opinion the second is fully right. Most of the people say that the only reason for understanding a foreign language is in order to travel to or to work thw aborad. But the other says that these are not the right reasons why somw people should learn foreign language.

Overall, the lines give the information about learning foreign language is to travel the aborad country. But it is not right to learn language for foreign country is to travel or work this country. Most of the people learn language in pakistan. It is not ture that you only learn language for aborad is to travel or work this country. This opinion is not really true and not fully wrong most of the people learn foreign language to aborad country. But most of the people learn the language in pakistan. In Pakistan, There are many centre that we learn the foreign language. Foreign language is not easy it is very difficult. Every country are different language. Most of the country language are very difficult then the other country. In pakistan, we learn every country language. If you know that we are goning to the aboard for travel or work then after some time we learn the language. In start, we face many difficulties then after a long time we learn the language. If we go to the aborad then we face some problem one of the main problem is foreign language. It is very common problem for every person. If we learn the foreign language then we do not face every problem in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state an opinion—“the second is fully right”—and refer to both views, so the response is recognisably about the question. However, the discussion only minimally addresses the task: the reasons for learning a language beyond travel or overseas work are not clearly identified or explained. Much of the response repeats that people learn languages in Pakistan and that foreign languages are difficult, without showing why these points support either view. The claim that learning a language means people “do not face every problem in life” is also too broad and unclear. To strengthen the response, explain both perspectives with specific reasons and examples, then connect each point to your stated opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to move from an opening opinion to supporting discussion, and phrases such as “But” and “If we go” signal relationships between ideas. However, the ideas are not arranged into a clear, coherent discussion of the two views. The paragraph repeatedly returns to the same point about learning languages in Pakistan, and the reader cannot easily follow how this supports the argument. There is also no clear separation of the opposing view, the other reasons, and your conclusion. Plan distinct paragraphs for the introduction, each view, and the conclusion; use linking phrases to show contrast and cause, while avoiding repeated claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “travel,” “work,” and “difficulties,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. However, the range is narrow and several words or phrases are repeated frequently, especially “most of the people,” “learn the language,” and “foreign country.” Some choices are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the lines give the information” and “travel the aborad country”; spelling errors including “thw,” “somw,” “ture,” and “goning” also make the writing less clear. Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling. For example, distinguish learning for employment from learning for cultural understanding or personal interest.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to connect clauses using “if” and “then.” Meaning is sometimes recoverable, but frequent errors in sentence structure and basic grammar reduce clarity. For example, “Most of the country language are very difficult” has problems with number agreement and sentence construction, while “There are many centre that we learn” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the clauses. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “learn foreign language” and “one of the main problem.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms before adding more complex sentences. Aim for clear, complete sentences with one main idea each.
