Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the topic of learning English and gives a clear personal view: “I completely agree” that English can provide educational and employment benefits. However, it does not adequately discuss both views in the prompt. Travel is mentioned only in the opening, and there is no explanation of why people learn languages for travel or why they may learn them for other reasons. The paragraph about office versus remote work is unrelated and distracts from the task. The supporting points about education and occupations are stated but not explained with reasons or examples. The response also falls short of the required 250 words. To improve, address each view directly, develop relevant examples, and keep every paragraph focused on the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an opening and a further paragraph, and the final sentence presents a position. However, the ideas do not progress logically: the discussion shifts from foreign-language learning to “working in an office” and remote work, which breaks the connection with the task. The opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the relationship between the claim that English is important and the later points about education and occupations is not clearly explained. Cohesive links such as “firstly” or “in addition” would help only if the ideas themselves were relevant and ordered. Use a clear structure—introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion—and connect each supporting example explicitly to the main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “educational opportunities,” and “occupations,” and the reader can recognise the general topic. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “learining,” “forgen,” “signifints,” and “oppertunities.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “january to” and “Many peoplebelieve foe success in the life.” The repeated use of “English” and “people” limits variety. Build a more accurate topic vocabulary—for example, “communicate with local people,” “career prospects,” and “cultural understanding”—and check spelling and collocations carefully. These improvements would make the intended meaning clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, and the opinion sentence beginning “I completely agree” is understandable. However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent. The opening contains an incomplete or unclear construction (“Because I think have english have…”), while “Many peoplebelieve foe success in the life” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its parts. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “one of the most important language” and the capitalisation after “Because.” These errors often make the reader work to infer the intended meaning. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check articles and singular/plural agreement. Use a few accurate complex sentences rather than joining ideas without a clear structure.
