Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, learning foreign language has become essential for anyone. A lot of people think that they have to learn the foreign language in order to travel or work in abroad. some other people think that there are several other resons to learn the foreign language. In my perspective, it depends on the individual preference. This essay will discuss bot of the reasons.

To commence with, studying abroad is the major reason for learning foreign language. For the sake of communication and further studies students have to learn the native language of thier desired country or the international language which is acceptable anywhere else in the world. Moreover, if a person is willing to start or expand his buisness abroad he has to pass the basic language test which is impossible without learning foreign language. A grip on the international language is essential for a succesful career in abroad.

Some other people think that these are not only the reasons to learn a foreign language. According to them foreign language is essential to develop good communication skills. Moreover, you will get better opportunities in your country if you have a better grip on international language. They argue that we need the foreign language to better present our country in front of the whole world. Furthermore, it also help us to make connections around the globe and give us a chance to learn about the cultures all over the world.

In conclusion, learning foreign language helps you to travel abroad and achive your goals but it also helps you to improve your communication skills as well as gives you opportunities to make international relations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a personal position, so the response is relevant to the task. The first body paragraph explains travel, study and business-related reasons, while the next presents broader benefits such as communication, opportunities at home and cultural understanding. However, your opinion—“it depends on the individual preference”—is not clearly developed, and the conclusion mainly repeats benefits rather than resolving which view you find more convincing. Several points, including the claim that a person “has to pass the basic language test” to expand a business abroad, are asserted without explanation or a specific example. Develop your own position consistently and support the main reasons with clearer examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” to signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical, and several points are added in a list-like sequence rather than being developed from one another. The opening says the essay will discuss “both of the reasons,” which is not a precise reference to the two views, and the conclusion does not clearly connect back to your stated position. Use more specific links between claims and explanations, and make the progression of your argument more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “communication skills,” “successful career,” “opportunities,” and “cultures.” These choices allow you to express the main ideas, but the range is somewhat repetitive: “foreign language,” “international language,” and “grip” recur without much variation or precision. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate, such as “work in abroad,” “start or expand his business abroad,” and “present our country in front of the whole world.” Spelling errors, including “resons,” “thier,” “buisness,” and “achive,” are also noticeable. Aim for more natural topic-specific phrasing and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “if” and “which,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, errors in articles, agreement, prepositions and sentence construction recur. For example, “learning foreign language” needs an article or plural form, “it also help us” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “work in abroad” uses an incorrect preposition pattern. The opening also begins a new sentence with lowercase “some,” and “This essay will discuss bot of the reasons” contains a spelling issue that obscures the intended wording. Practise accurate article use and agreement, and proofread sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
