Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people think that learning a foreign language may helpful in travel or work in a foreign country. While some say that it is not necessary to learn foreign language for this purposes it may also use for better communication.
Firstly, some people think that learning a foreign language helps in your work and study abroad.I think to some extend it is right because if you know the language you can easily caught up the things you dont know but if yuo are weak in this foreign language you can't understand the meaning and concepts of your learning books and also face difficulty at your work sight.
Secondly ,Learning a foreign language should give you better oppertunities living abroad. For example, you can understand the people point of vies about their custom and tradions. Moreover ,you can get more chances to enhance your knowldge in abroad by your speaking skills.
In my opinion,it is best to learn foreign language because it gives you strenght of confidence in your study to undertstand the lectures as well as your professsion by giving projects and meeting in English .
foreign language provides sound impacts not only a person but also prevails their effects on society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify reasons for learning a language connected with work and study abroad, and you give a personal view that learning one is beneficial. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, including reasons beyond travel or overseas work. The response mainly develops the benefits of living, studying, or working abroad; “better communication” and understanding customs are mentioned but not explained as distinct reasons. Your opinion is present, but the final claim about effects on society is unclear and unsupported. The response is also 50 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop both sides and provide relevant examples. To improve, explain the wider reasons explicitly and support each view with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, two points introduced by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a concluding opinion. These signposts help readers identify the sequence of ideas. However, progression is limited: the second body paragraph continues the focus on living abroad rather than clearly developing a separate view, and the final sentence about effects on society does not connect clearly to the preceding point. Some links are mechanical, and punctuation spacing makes transitions less smooth. Organise the essay around the two views in the question, then add a distinct paragraph for your opinion. Use linking phrases to show how each example supports its main idea, rather than relying mainly on numbered transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “foreign language,” “communication,” “custom,” “knowledge,” and “confidence.” This gives the response enough basic language to convey its general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to follow, such as “caught up the things,” “work sight,” and “sound impacts.” Spelling errors, including “oppertunities,” “tradions,” and “knowldge,” also reduce clarity. Aim to learn common topic phrases as complete units—for example, “understand course material” and “employment opportunities”—and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish practical reasons for learning a language from broader cultural or personal motivations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “While” and a conditional structure beginning “if you know the language.” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to understand. For example, “learning a foreign language may helpful” is missing a verb form, while “it may also use” has an incorrect passive construction. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “learn foreign language” and the run-on opening sentence. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them with conjunctions. Check verb forms, articles, and punctuation when proofreading.
