Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many different languages are spoken all over the world. Many argue that the primary reason to learn a foreign language is to travel or to work in foreign countries, while others argue that there might be many more reasons to learn a foreign language. I strongly believe that learning a foreign language, not only helps to travel and work but also provides the opportunity to understand their culture and prespective.
Many individuals learn short sentences or words so that it will be easier for them during their travel or work. Learning a new language is a difficult task and it takes constant practice to master them. Not only that, many individuals might never use the language that they have learned in their real life. Furthermore, learning new language might be very stressful without any practical implementation. As a result, learning foreign language might be limited to travelling and work in foreign nation.
on the other hand, learning a new language might help individuals to explore the culture, tradition and prespective of foreigners. It might help individuals to feel connected to the local community. Additionally, it is also stated that biligauls are more better at communication than single language users. As a result, children are taught a foreign language during their schooling days and it is presented as a way to enhance the cognitive capacity. Therefore, there is multiple reasons to learn a new language.
In conclusion, although learning a new language can be challenging and many individuals learn few words and sentences to travel or work in other countrie, learning new language might be beneficial for our cognitive wellbeing as well as helps us understand different culture and tradition. I strongly agree that every individuals should be encouraged to learn a new langauage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and make your position clear: learning languages can support travel and work, but also cultural understanding and cognitive development. The discussion of travel and work is relevant, particularly the point that learners may acquire only a few useful phrases. However, this side is less fully explained than the benefits in the second body paragraph, and the claim that language learning may be stressful without practical use needs clearer support. The cultural connection and schooling examples are relevant, but the cognitive benefit is asserted rather than illustrated. To develop the response further, explain each main reason with a specific example and make the comparison between the two views more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression, and the contrast between the views is easy to identify. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some flexibility in connecting ideas. At times, however, the links feel mechanical or the relationship between claims is not fully explained—for example, the move from bilingual communication to children learning languages at school. The second body paragraph also begins with a lowercase “on.” Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each supporting point connects to the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “local community,” “cognitive capacity,” and “practical implementation.” These choices show an attempt to discuss ideas beyond basic travel and work. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “prespective,” “biligauls,” “countrie,” and “langauage.” Some phrases are also awkward or repetitive, such as “learn a new language” and “culture, tradition and prespective.” Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations; for example, “understand their culture” could be expressed more precisely as “gain insight into other cultures.” This would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the contrast structure “although …” in the conclusion and the clause “so that it will be easier for them.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “learning a foreign language, not only helps” has an unnecessary comma, while “there is multiple reasons” has subject–verb disagreement. In “learning new language,” an article is missing, and “every individuals should” has a number-agreement problem. The sentence about bilingual people being “more better” also uses an incorrect comparative construction. Review articles, agreement, and comparative forms, and proofread punctuation around introductory and paired expressions.
