Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many individuals say that people learn a foreign language because of their travel or working in another country, while others say that there are not only one particular reason why society should learn a foreign language. I agree with this idea partly.
On the one hand, nowadays people learn another language because of their studies and working as well. This is the one of the main requirement in many countries to learn their language. However, many individuals prefer to learn new languages when they are planning to study or work abroad and travel as well. It is more convenient for them due to the fact that when you know another language you can communicate with local people as well. For instance, if people are going abroad in italy it would be challenging for them to introduce local citizens and have a connection with them, although that English language is an international language in many countries most of individuals still does not know other language. It makes a difficult not only to communicate with them, but also public places, such as grocery or supermarkets to buy something.
From another angle, there are not any particular reasons why people can learn a new language. Many individuals have different hobbies and there are kind of person's who are learning languages not only for travelling, but it bring them satisfaction. For example, there are different kind of people who are a big fan of podcasts or maybe films as well. Firstly, they are watching with subtitles. However, individuals who have a talent of learning new languages faster mostly they are interested in to discover new language and learn as well. Second example, nowadays there are particular tournaments when people are compete with each other like how many languages they know and what level they have. This kind of things are encourage for them to try and participate in there.
Finally, it depends on the individuals and their plans. There are people who wants to study or working abroad and they have reason to study new languages, whereas other kind of people just have talant of learning new languages and they don't have any particular reason. From my perspective, it depends but many people learning new languages because of their goals and careers as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views: the first body paragraph explains how language helps people study, work, and communicate while abroad, while the second gives personal interests and language competitions as other motivations. Your final paragraph also indicates a position—that reasons depend on individual goals—so the task is addressed. However, the opinion is qualified as “I agree with this idea partly” without clearly explaining which view you support or why. Some examples are relevant but not fully developed: the discussion of films and podcasts does not clearly show how learning a language serves those interests, and the competition example is asserted rather than explained. State your position more directly and extend each main reason with a clear explanation or specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “From another angle,” and “Finally” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven: the first body paragraph moves from study and work to travel, then to communication and shopping without clearly linking each point. “Firstly” and “Second example” also make the second paragraph feel like a list, and some references, such as “This kind of things,” are unclear. Improve cohesion by grouping related reasons, using transitions that show the relationship between ideas, and making pronoun references precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “communicate,” “local people,” “subtitles,” “tournaments,” and “careers,” which allows you to discuss both practical and personal motivations. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “have a connection with them.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, as in “introduce local citizens,” “a big fan of podcasts,” and “particular reasons.” Some word forms and spelling are also incorrect, including “talant” and “encourage” in “are encourage.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less natural or precise. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking whether each word fits the meaning you intend.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer structures. For example, “there are not only one particular reason” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “people who wants” and “people are compete” show errors in agreement and verb form. The sentence beginning “It makes a difficult not only to communicate” is also structurally incomplete. Articles, plurals, and prepositions need attention. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them; proofread specifically for subject–verb agreement and complete sentence structure.
