Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a general opinion that learning languages is valuable beyond travel and work, and you include examples such as studying abroad, learning about other cultures, and gaining knowledge. However, the two views are not clearly distinguished or explained: the first body paragraph mixes travel, study, and broad benefits, while the second repeats that language learning develops skills rather than explaining the opposing view in a focused way. Your position is also expressed vaguely in phrases such as “more crucial” and “improve individual skill,” without explaining why these benefits matter. To strengthen the response, explain each side separately, then support your own view with a specific example and a clear reason. The stated length requirement is met.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the intended structure visible. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: several points are listed without showing how they connect, and the second body paragraph largely repeats ideas from the first. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Therefore,” and “For example” are used, but they do not always establish a clear relationship between the sentences that follow. References such as “these” and “this skill” are also unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and use linking words only where the logical connection is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “opportunities,” “culture,” “history,” and “knowledge,” and you try to discuss benefits beyond travel and employment. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “benefical,” “skill,” and “learn a foreign language” recurring frequently. Several word choices or combinations make the meaning difficult to follow, for example “these helps achieve good achievement” and “introduce another people.” There are also spelling errors, including “nowdays,” “backgroung,” and “conlusion.” Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms; for instance, describe language learning as “broadening cultural understanding” or “improving communication skills” rather than repeating “improve individual skill.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences and use a range of basic connectors, but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes obscuring the intended meaning. Examples include “learning a foreign language is in order to visit,” “these helps achieve,” and “it is also helps individual skill,” where clause construction, agreement, or verb forms are faulty. Articles and sentence patterns are also problematic in “in a another country,” while the final sentence beginning “Although” is not completed as a clear contrast. Most ideas would be easier to understand if expressed in accurate, shorter sentences first. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clause structures, then add complex sentences with conjunctions such as “although” only when both clauses are grammatically complete.
