Student answer (Band 5.5)
Language is very important skill and it plays a very significant role in our daily life. Some people thinks that learning language is only beneficial for traveling or working in a foreign countries while some argues, that these are not the only reason.I believe that learning language is more important to work and travel in a foreign country.
On the one hand, there are clear arguements that,it is not the only reason for learning language to do job in abroad or travel internationally. One of the main reason can be that some people have interest in different cultures, so they prefer to learn other languages which can help the people to learn about their traditions and cultural values more clearly. Another reason can be that, it may helpful for people in their personal development, although many people would love to make foreigner friends so for all these purposes its neccessary to have strong grip on their language. For example, one of my friend is very found of chines culture so now she is learning chines language for better understanding.
On the other hand, i agree with the point of view that learning language is more beneficial for working and travelling in other different countries. Firstly, i believe that there are a lot of better job opportunities in abroad, so its very essential to have strong command on their native language to secure a good job becuase a good understanding of language leads toward good job. This is because, they offer handsome salary and many other facilities like accomodation, transport and education. Secondly, i also feel that it helps in travelling while communicating with other people.
To sum up, it seems to me that learning language plays a vital role during traveling and doing job in abroad, while it give better understanding to others culture and traditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and state a position: you recognise cultural interest and personal development as reasons to learn a language, while arguing that work and travel are especially important purposes. The example of your friend learning Chinese gives one point some support. However, your opinion is not fully consistent: the introduction says work and travel are “more important,” whereas the conclusion mainly says they play a vital role alongside cultural understanding. The work argument also shifts towards salary and benefits rather than explaining in detail why language ability is essential to obtaining those opportunities. Develop each side with clearer reasoning and make your position consistent from introduction to conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Another reason can be that” repeats the earlier framing, while “although many people would love to make foreigner friends so” joins ideas awkwardly and makes the relationship between them difficult to follow. The final sentence also combines the two positions without clearly resolving the contrast. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one main line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “cultural values,” “personal development,” “job opportunities,” and “command” of a language. These choices help communicate the main ideas, but control is uneven, with noticeable spelling and collocation problems. Examples include “arguements,” “neccessary,” and “chines,” as well as “strong grip on their language” and “good understanding of language leads toward good job,” which are not natural expressions in this context. Repetition of “important,” “reason,” and “language” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “develop a strong command of a language” and “secure employment abroad.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “so,” “although,” and “because,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors are frequent, and complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. For instance, “Some people thinks” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “it may helpful” is missing a verb form. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “very important skill” and “one of my friend.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention too: several commas interrupt clauses, and there is no space after the first full stop. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then use subordinate clauses with clear punctuation and agreement.
