Student answer (Band 5.0)
People have different opinions about learning a foreign language. while, some people believe that the only single reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country, other arguee that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language. In my opinion, althrough people learning a foreign language only for a work or travel, has some benefits, I strongly beleive that people learning foreign language is not only for travel or work it is more important. This essay will discuss both views before reaching a conclusion.
On the one hand, many people beleive that people learning a foreign language is in only reasons for work or travel in a foreign country. for example some person learning english for a business purpose and he go to the america for work because in the america every person speaking in a english and business run only english language also english is a international language. it is compulsary for business and other purpose that is a reason people learning foreign language.
On the other argue, foreign language is not only for work or travel it is also other benefits like people learning language to know other country culture and history. for instance people learning english language because english is a international language all over the world people know english and people reads many books for other culture, traditions in the pakistan many people reading a Africa festivals book because people want to know how the African people leave and what is culture inaddition what is language and what do you do for leaving.
In conclusion, some people beleive that people learning foreign language is only for business and move different country. while, other argue that people learning foreign language is also different purpose like reading a books about cultures and history.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and state a clear preference in the introduction: you believe language learning has purposes beyond travel and work. The body paragraphs also include relevant examples, such as learning English for business and reading about other cultures. However, the reasons are often asserted rather than explained, and the examples are unclear or generalised—for instance, the reference to people in Pakistan reading about African festivals does not show clearly how language learning enables this. The conclusion repeats the two positions but does not restate your own opinion clearly. Develop each main reason with a more specific explanation and example, and maintain your position consistently. The response meets the stated length requirement; the 32 words copied from the task prompt are excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are joined mechanically or unclearly. For example, the first body paragraph moves from business English to America and then to English as an international language without clearly explaining the links. Transitions such as “On the one hand” and “On the other argue” signal contrast, but the latter is inaccurate, and “while” is used awkwardly in the introduction and conclusion. Use clear topic sentences, connect each example directly to its reason, and make pronouns and references explicit so the argument is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “business purpose,” “culture,” “history,” and “traditions,” so the reader can identify the subject of each paragraph. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “people learning a foreign language” and “work or travel.” There are also frequent spelling and word-choice problems, such as “beleive,” “compulsary,” and “leave” where the intended meaning appears to be “live.” Phrases such as “business run only English language” and “other benefits like” are not natural collocations and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for purposes, cultural learning, and employment, and check spelling and collocation carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast in the introduction and examples introduced with “because.” However, the longer structures are often faulty, and errors in sentence formation, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently make the message difficult to follow. For example, “some person learning English … and he go to the america” lacks a correctly formed verb sequence, while “every person speaking in a english” has problems with the verb and article. Several sentences also run together without clear punctuation, especially in the second body paragraph. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using one clear subordinate clause at a time. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
