Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people thought that, underestanding the foreign language usses only for travel and work purpose in a another country, while others disagree of this discousions. In my point of view, learning foreign language only not for visiting or working it usees for commonication, business and so on.

On the one hand, people believe that, foreign language is learnt by travel or working purpuse. they think , it help people to visist one country to another country . beside that people going to another country for working purpose who need to learn languages for surviveing. But in my eyes, i not agree with this ststement becouse, i believe that learning lenguage is important to better knowledge and commonicate with their locals.

On the pther hand, there are many reason for learning foreign language. becouse it help people to underestant to others country culture. it also help visiters to commonicate with local people on that country. In todays world geathering skills like language it's a very helpful for doing business. for example, if someone buying product on another country it important to know their language becouse it help to underestanding each other. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and make your own position clear: you acknowledge that language learning can support travel and work, then argue that it also helps with communication, business, cultural understanding, and study. The examples about buying products abroad and students facing difficulties overseas are relevant. However, the first view is explained mainly as a practical need to visit or work in another country, while the wider reasons in the second view receive more attention. Some points, such as how language learning improves cultural understanding, are asserted rather than developed with a clear explanation or example. To strengthen the response, explain each side more evenly and extend one or two examples to show precisely how language knowledge helps. Your conclusion restates your opinion, though it could summarise the contrast more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through the discussion, and phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal the shift between positions. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the paragraph beginning “On the pther hand” moves from culture to communication, business, and study without clearly showing how these points relate. Linking phrases such as “beside that” and “So” are also used mechanically or imprecisely. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports; check that pronouns such as “it” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “culture,” “communicate,” “business,” and “higher study,” and you convey several distinct reasons for learning languages. However, the range is basic and some words and phrases are repeated, particularly “another country” and “help.” Numerous spelling errors, including “underestanding,” “lenguage,” and “obstacale,” make the writing less clear and sometimes require the reader to work out the intended word. There are also inaccurate word choices and collocations, such as “for surviveing” and “for doing everything in another country.” Build a bank of accurate topic vocabulary and practise spelling it, then use more precise expressions such as “interact with local residents” or “overcome practical difficulties.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and some attempts at more complex structures, including “although knowing various language can help…” and a sentence beginning “Sometimes students go abroad… but…”. This shows an effort to express contrast and reasons. However, control is uneven: errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, “it help people to visist” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “learning foreign language only not for visiting” is not formed as a complete, clear clause. Several sentences also run ideas together without reliable punctuation. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then combine them with “because,” “although,” and “while.” Check each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and appropriate articles.
