Student answer (Band 5.5)

Learnig a foreign language can be a challenging task. In my opinon, it can be benefical for individuals who wants to work or Study in foreign country. The main barrier in communication can be overcomed with learning the native language which in results can help in gaining new opportunites.

As i discussed the main hurdle to survive in that country can be lack of communication. They can't understand each others which reflects in disadvantage to that individual in not getting a work or job. Mostly, companies prioritise those who understand their native language and can easily communicates to others. For example, if their is a vacancy in a store or a shop and anyone want to apply so they should communicate with the customers to provide what they are demanding for. If a job seeker can't speak or understand then how he can provide the demand. With the help of language, peoples can travel easily and avail new opportunites like opening a new business in that country, they can also learn their statistics of business more easily and understand the demands or need of the surroundings.

Some may disagree with this point as they make sense like if someone just want to travel to a country or just visiting for enjoyment so their is no need of learning the language. As technology has been developed, there are apps which can help in communication during the trip. They can speak in there language and the app can convert it into the country's native language which is benefical for both of them to understand.

I believe that, it depends on the situation of a person if someone want to migrate or study in that country so they should learn the language but if someone wants to just explore or visiting the country for enjoyment they can survive easily without the language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a personal position: learning is important for people who migrate or study, while tourists may manage without it because of translation apps. The examples about communicating with customers and using technology are relevant. However, the response focuses mainly on work and travel, and the alternative reasons for learning a language are not explored; for instance, cultural understanding, relationships, or personal development could have been considered. Your conclusion also makes the position conditional rather than fully explaining why you believe language learning has value beyond travel and work. Develop each side more evenly and explain your own view with a clearer, broader reason.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, paragraphs presenting the practical benefits and the opposing view, and a concluding opinion. The examples generally follow the points they support. However, progression is sometimes repetitive: communication and employment are revisited several times without adding much new development. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “As i discussed the main hurdle” and “Some may disagree with this point as they make sense.” The final paragraph repeats the earlier contrast rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example explicitly to its main idea, and vary linking expressions so the argument develops more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communication,” “prioritise,” “vacancy,” “migrate,” and “native language.” These choices help convey the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural, such as “learnig,” “benefical,” “new opportunites,” “learn their statistics of business,” and “provide the demand.” Repeated use of “country,” “language,” and “communication” also limits flexibility. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for employment, travel, and cultural benefits, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your examples clearer and your argument more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including conditional ideas such as “if someone want to migrate or study…” and a relative clause in “those who understand their native language.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to follow. Examples include “individuals who wants,” “They can't understand each others,” “anyone want to apply,” and “if someone want.” Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “in foreign country” and “which in results can help.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including “i” and the comma after “I believe that.” Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, and building shorter, controlled sentences before adding clauses.
