Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, many individual think that to know about a foreign language have only one reason like in order to travel to or work in a foreign country but others think that these are not only the reasons why someone should learn a foregin language. I really agree with this statement because i think that to learn about a new and different languages is necessary for us to going to abroad or any country which is very helpful.

First of all, i discuss that the many community say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is only the way to travel to another country due to work or study or another purposes specially in a foreign country is play a crucial part for our life like its helps for us to communicate to others it can easily built our confidence. For example, IELTS which is very significant for students when they are going to another country so if they dont know their language so they face many difficulties and not to easily communicate for other students.

On the other hand, other community say that these are not only the reasons why someone should learn a foreign country behind this there have so many reasons like to going to abroad for their health treatments, to watch a match in another country, or many other ways. For example, those people who are going to spouce visas so its a compulsory for those people to learn about the others language.

In conclusion, i hardly agree with this that to learning a foreign language is really a compulsory for every persons like students, family members or other persons and its a necessary for us to learn about a various language to going to any others foreign countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a clear general view that language learning has purposes beyond travel and work, and you include examples such as health treatment, watching a match, and joining a spouse abroad. However, the discussion of the first view is not fully focused: you introduce study and communication, but do not clearly explain why travel or employment are the only reasons some people learn languages. Your own position is also somewhat inconsistent. You say you agree that there are other reasons, yet conclude that learning a language is compulsory for everyone and mainly useful for going abroad. Develop both sides more evenly and state precisely which view you support, with a reasoned example for each.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First of all” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the two views. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are joined without showing their relationship. For instance, the first body paragraph moves from travel and work to study, communication, confidence, and IELTS without clearly connecting these points. Repeated phrases such as “another country” and “for example” also make the linking feel mechanical. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence; make references such as “these reasons” explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “communicate,” “confidence,” and “health treatments,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “to know about a foreign language,” “learn a foreign country,” and “going to spouce visas.” There are also spelling errors such as “foregin” and “spouce,” alongside repeated use of “another country” and “reasons.” Build a more precise set of expressions for language learning, travel, employment, and cultural or personal benefits, and check spelling and collocations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “if.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction can make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “many individual think” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “it can easily built our confidence” uses an incorrect verb form. In “to learn about a new and different languages is necessary,” the infinitive structure and singular/plural agreement are not controlled. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and a correctly formed supporting clause, and check verb agreement and infinitive patterns carefully.
