Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views: the first body paragraph explains learning a language for work or travel, while the second gives personal interest and making a good impression as other reasons. Your conclusion also states that language learning can build knowledge and confidence. However, the position is not fully clear: “I firmly agree with this notion” does not specify which view you support, and the conclusion returns to practical necessity without clearly weighing the two sides. Several points are asserted rather than explained; for example, the claims about Cambridge and Greenwich research are not connected in detail to the argument. State your opinion precisely and develop each reason with a clear explanation or a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its basic structure. Transitions such as “To commence with” and “By contrast” signal a change in focus. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first moves from work and study to travel, a research claim, and your cousin without showing how each point builds on the previous one. Connectors such as “To elaborate” and “Resultantly” are repeated mechanically, and some references, including “these countries,” are not precise. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it in sequence, using linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign languages,” “obstacle,” “impression,” and “enhance our knowledge.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to follow, as in “solely cause for education a other languages,” “fond of learning,” and “builds our confident.” Spelling errors such as “eleborate,” “commmance,” and “peaple” also reduce accuracy. Some phrases appear memorised or unnatural, including “with the assistance of logical reasons” and “Resultantly.” Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check that each word fits its grammatical form and collocates naturally; simpler, accurate phrasing will communicate your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, for example, “people learn different languages to work or studies in abroad because…” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to understand. Examples include “people learn it they cannot face,” which needs a clear clause connection, and “My father learn 4 languages,” where the verb does not agree with the subject. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “a other languages” and the run-on conclusion. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause punctuation, then add complexity only when you can control the sentence.
