Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argue that the single reason for learning a second language is just to get a job in a foreign country or to visit. Some are of the opinion that these are not the only reasons for learning a foreign language. I consider getting another language as a tool to success.
Learning a foreign language is not easy and it needs a lot of hard work and time to learn an unknown language. A number of people believe the idea that if we are starting work in a foreign land, or we want to travel another country, only then, we are suppose to learn a foreign language. This pact of people might be considering it a waste of time and energy. This could be true for people who believe that they do not need to communicate in another language
Some people, however, think that language learning is a necessary skill. There are people who learn languages as a hobby. So they learn for that reason. People are connected through different social media platform from the whole globe, they need at least one common language to communicate. It is also a trend in today's world that people meet online and they marry from whole different language background and culture. They will eventually in need of language learning. It is not necessary for working abroad because we can have work opportunities with other people of the world online. New languages can open doors of opportunities in own country . One of my colleague, who is fluent in German , Pashto , Urdu and Dari languages, got the opportunity to work in German Embassy, Islamabad.
So, Language is the only tool for communication and if someone can learn more than one languages, that could be of great help in practical life. If we are not traveling, people can travel to our country, so we will be in need of another language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a personal position, stating that learning another language is “a tool to success.” The response also includes relevant reasons beyond travel and overseas employment, such as hobbies, online communication, relationships, and work opportunities at home; the German Embassy example helps make this point concrete. However, the view that language learning is mainly useful for travel or work is explained less fully: the paragraph suggests some people see it as a waste of time, but does not explore why they hold this view or provide a specific example. Your own opinion is present, though it could be stated more precisely and supported consistently. Develop both sides more evenly and explain how each example supports your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the first view, a paragraph giving other reasons, and a concluding statement. Transitions such as “Some people, however” help signal a change in perspective, and the examples generally follow the ideas they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The second body paragraph moves quickly from hobbies to social media, marriage, online work, and the embassy example, so the relationship between these points is not always explicit. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly repeated openings with “Some people” and “So.” The conclusion repeats the communication point rather than drawing together the two views. Group related reasons and use clearer references and transitions to show how each point connects.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “communicate,” “opportunities,” “fluent,” and “culture,” which allows you to discuss the topic and give a specific example. There are also attempts at more precise expressions, such as “open doors of opportunities.” However, several word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, including “this pact of people,” “starting work in a foreign land,” and “from whole different language background.” Some wording is repetitive, especially “language” and “people,” and “tool to success” is not a natural expression in this context. These choices do not prevent the main ideas from being understood, but they limit precision and fluency. Build a bank of natural collocations for education, employment, and communication, and check phrases in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if we are starting work in a foreign land” and clauses beginning “because” and “who.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “we are suppose to learn” needs the correct verb form, while “they will eventually in need” has an incorrect construction. There are also agreement and article problems in “more than one languages” and “from whole different language background,” as well as punctuation issues, such as missing full stops between sentences. These errors rarely block meaning, but they reduce accuracy. Practise verb patterns, singular and plural agreement, and articles, then proofread each sentence for complete punctuation.
