Student answer (Band 5.5)
in today's world, foreign language is becoming an improtant topic of discussion. Some people thinks that learning of any foreign language is only essential for travel and work purpose in abroad countries. While others cosider that these are not the only reasons to learn any foreign language. In my opinion, those who admire the thought of learning various types of langauges for different reasons, I would like to stand with them.
People usually learing foreign language for studing in aboard universities, whose lecture have been given in their native languages. Therefore, its become compulsary for us to learn that language, Furthermore, people also learn foreign language for working because there are many of those who can not speak or understand english or any other language but their native language. That why people have to learn their language to communicate with those people.
On the other hand, people thinks that only travel or work should not be consider for learning a foreign language. There can be several other reasons to learn a various types of foreign languages. For example, if we have to watch news of any other country but the news anchor is talking in his native language or if you are one of those people who love to read novals but you can not find a specific kind of noval in your native language then you have to learn those languages that you are acquiring in those situations.
In my opinion, people should gain a habit of learing of different things rather those are foreign languages or there are other things to learn in their daily life.
In conclusion, people should never stop learing different things or languages because we do not know at what point of life we might have to use those things that we had learned.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and state your position: you support learning languages for reasons beyond travel and work. The examples about studying at overseas universities and communicating with people who speak only their native language address the first view, while news and novels illustrate other motivations. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The examples in the second body paragraph are presented as possibilities, but you do not explain why these interests make language learning valuable or give a specific illustration. Your opinion is also broad: the final paragraph says people should keep learning different things, rather than clearly explaining why language learning in particular matters. Develop each view with a reason and a more specific example, and keep your position explicit throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “Therefore,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some linking is mechanical. For example, “Therefore” and “Furthermore” introduce points without fully explaining how they follow from the previous sentence. The opinion paragraph also repeats the general idea of learning different things rather than developing the argument. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its supporting reason, and make the conclusion summarise the specific position established in the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “communicate,” “native language,” and “compulsory,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors are noticeable, such as “improtant,” “learing,” “studing,” and “in abroad countries.” Some expressions are also imprecise or repetitive, including “different types of languages” and “those languages that you are acquiring.” These choices sometimes make the meaning less clear or natural. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; prefer concise expressions such as “study abroad,” “language learning,” and “access news in its original language.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “if,” and “but.” This allows you to express reasons and examples, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For instance, “Some people thinks” has subject–verb disagreement, while “its become compulsary” has an incorrect verb form and missing apostrophe. In “people should not be consider,” the passive construction is faulty. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly where a full stop or capital letter is missing. Practise accurate present-tense agreement, passive forms, articles, and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
