Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph links language learning to work, study, shopping and communication, while the next gives reasons such as gaining knowledge and teaching languages. Your opinion is also present in “we should be popular with other languages.” However, the discussion remains general, and some points are difficult to interpret or do not clearly explain why travel or work might be the only reasons. The examples are asserted rather than developed, and the conclusion introduces a new suggestion about universities instead of clearly summarising your position. To strengthen the response, explain each view with a specific, relevant example and state your opinion more precisely, including why language learning has value beyond travel and employment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Phrases such as “From one side,” “From the other side” and “To sum up” signal stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from work to study, shopping and communication without showing how these points connect. Some linking words are awkward or inaccurate, and repeated use of “and” makes relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph one clear central point, ordering supporting details logically, and using precise links such as “for example” or “in addition” only where they express the intended relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “native language,” “presentation,” “universities” and “communication,” which helps establish the subject. There are also attempts to express less familiar ideas, such as “unique collaborations of vocabulary.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, including “popular with other languages,” “in a unique way” and “made our speaking satisfactory.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “explaned” and “acadmey” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural, precise phrases and check spelling: for instance, describe languages as “valuable” or “useful,” and explain specifically how learning them improves communication or cultural understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the response includes clauses introduced by “because” and “when.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. Examples include “foreign language often help,” where subject–verb agreement is missing, and “they enhances their knowledge,” where the verb does not agree with its subject. Verb forms are also unreliable in “they had learned them because they enhances” and “they should be explaned their views.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are often faulty, as in “From one side, Foreign language…” and the run-on sequence “but, they gave us…”. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, consistent tense, articles and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
