Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people asserts that the people learn foreign languages for only travelling or work in foreign countries but some say that there are many other reasons of learning foreign languages.

Some people state that the cause of learning foreign languages is only for working or travelling because when we have to work in specific country then we have to learn their national language first. Because if we already learned their mother tongue, we easily understand the discussions of customers and clarify our point of view easily. If we have to travel in specific country for some debates or events, we have to learn their language from our home country to perceive their thoughts and prespectives readily. If we don't comprehend their language, we have to face a lot of problems in listenting and grasping.

On the other hand, some people say that there are many other reasons of learning foreign languages such as for studying, attending national events, global mobility, deeper relationships and direct access to media. Because if we learn foreign languages, we easily understand the posts of famous bureaucrats and give our opinions in the form of comments and play an important role in understanding political matters. If we learns the foreign languages, we easily study abroad and brightens our careers in better ways.

I'm fully agree with both people opinions because through learning foreign languages we easily travel and work in specific country where we want to go. we smoothly comprehend the lectures of universities on social media platforms and also in taking physical classes. So, it is beneficial and interesting to learn different foreign languages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views: the first body paragraph explains why language skills can help with work and travel, while the next introduces other motives such as study, relationships and access to media. Your final paragraph also gives a position, but “I’m fully agree with both people opinions” is not a clear, reasoned opinion on the issue; it would be stronger to state explicitly whether you believe travel and work are the only reasons, or whether other motives matter too. Some supporting points are relevant but remain general. For example, the claims about understanding customers and studying abroad would benefit from a specific example and fuller explanation. The response therefore covers the task, but the position and development of ideas are limited or unclear in places.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph. This helps the reader follow the main contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated “Because” and “If we learn” openings. The first body paragraph moves from work to travel, and the second lists several other reasons before focusing mainly on social media and study, so the links between points could be clearer. Some references are also imprecise, such as “both people opinions,” which makes the conclusion harder to interpret. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, then connect examples with a wider range of clear transitions and references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “national language,” “global mobility,” “deeper relationships,” and “political matters.” These choices show an effort to discuss the topic beyond basic travel and work. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear: “attending national events” may not express the intended idea, “perceive their thoughts” is unnatural, and “brightens our careers” is not the usual expression. There are also spelling errors, including “prespectives” and “listenting.” Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your ideas easier to understand and give your vocabulary more reliable control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If we have to travel…” and explanations introduced by “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “Some people asserts” (subject–verb agreement), “If we learns” (agreement), and “I’m fully agree” (incorrect verb construction). The sentence beginning “Because if we already learned…” is also an incomplete sentence, while “we easily study abroad and brightens our careers” has inconsistent agreement. Work on accurate subject–verb agreement, complete sentence construction, and verb patterns before adding more complexity. Careful proofreading for these recurring forms would improve control.
