Student answer (Band 4.5)
It is often argued that learning a foriegn language is mainly necessary for travelling or working in another country. While i agree that these are important reasons, I strongly believe that there are several other benefits of learning a foriegn language. This essay will discuss both views and explain my opinion.
The primary reason why some people support this view is that learning a foriegn language makes traveling and working abroad much easier. When people visit another country, they need to communicate with local residents ask to direction and understand important information. For instance, a person who speaks the local language can easily communicate with others and enjoy thier journey without facing many difficulties. This clearly demlonstrates that foriegn languages are useful for international travel and employment.
Another compelling arguement is that ;learning a foriegn language, provides you many opportunities. For example any person go to abroad when he raechs at foriegner airport, for asking directions to any foriegner person you should must spaek foriegn language so thats why you should mjust learn a foriegn language.
In my opinion it is very positive effect and sign for every person to learn foriegn language because, you should must speak foriegn language in that country which in you go and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You introduce both positions and state a clear preference for broader benefits: “I strongly believe that there are several other benefits.” However, the discussion does not adequately develop the view that language learning has purposes beyond travel and work; that side is asserted but never explained with a relevant example. The second body paragraph largely repeats the travel point, and the final sentence is unfinished, so your own opinion is not fully supported. The response also falls 43 words short of the required minimum, leaving too little space to address the task fully. To improve, explain distinct reasons such as cultural understanding or access to education, support each with an example, and complete your conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic essay shape: an introduction, body paragraphs, and an attempt to state your opinion. Linking phrases such as “For instance” and “In my opinion” help signal examples and viewpoint. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph repeats the idea of needing a language at a foreign airport rather than developing a separate argument. The final sentence stops mid-thought, which leaves the essay without a clear ending. Some connections are also awkward, particularly the shift from “Another compelling argument” to another travel example. Organise each paragraph around one distinct reason, use clear topic sentences, and ensure that the conclusion summarises your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communicate,” “local residents,” “opportunities,” and “employment.” These choices make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “foreign language” and “foriegn language.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “thier,” “demonstrates,” “arguement,” and “raechs,” as well as unnatural expressions such as “ask to direction” and “enjoy their journey.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a wider set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully; for example, use “ask for directions” and “work overseas.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer structures, including “While I agree that these are important reasons, I strongly believe…” and a conditional-style example beginning “When people visit another country.” These show an effort to go beyond simple sentences. However, the range remains limited, and errors are frequent in the longer attempts. Examples include “a person who speaks the local language can easily communicate with others and enjoy their journey” (the subject shifts from a person to “their” journey), “any person go to abroad,” and “you should must speak.” The final sentence is also incomplete, and punctuation is inconsistent, as in “easier.When.” Practise complete sentences, subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
