Student answer (Band 5.5)
Languages are one of the medium for a communication within a society. A group of people beleives that learning a foreign languages only helps while travel to or work in a foreign country. Whereas, other says that there are more reasons to learn a foreign language like for fun. In this essay i will describe both point of views and also write my own perspective.
On the one hand, it is mandatory for a persons to learn foreign language who explores different countries with travelling. Language help indviduals to observe different culture, values, beleifs and there way of living. For instance, if person visit China and doesnot now chinese language then it cannot understand their culture how to enjoy holidays and how they treat with eachother.
On the other hand, there are many other reason to learn foreign language like some peoples watch foreign dramas, movies for entertainment purpose. Therefore, they try to learn different language to understand different country entertainment. Penalty of individuals chatting on social media with other foreigns peoples for fun and find it relaxing to learn some foreign things. In addition, students also learns languages to availe scholarship and get good education. One major reason i think peoples learn languages for their religious purpose like muslim learn Arabic to understand their religion and worship their Almigthy.
In conclusion, learning languages doesnot only required for work and travel to a specific country whereas, it has many others reasons as well. While, I beleive that main reason of learning a foreign language is that it helps in travelling and in working within a foreign country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: you acknowledge travel and work as reasons, then argue that entertainment, education and religion also motivate language learning. The examples about understanding Chinese culture, watching foreign films, scholarships and learning Arabic are relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the social-media point is difficult to follow, and the travel example focuses on culture and holidays without clearly showing why language is necessary for work. Your final position also gives travel and work priority, but the essay does not fully explain why you consider them the main reasons. Develop these comparisons and support each example more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the structure easy to recognise. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Whereas” begins a sentence fragment in the introduction, while “Therefore” does not clearly show how watching dramas leads to learning a language. The sentence beginning “Penalty of individuals…” interrupts the paragraph’s progression, and the final “While” creates an awkward link to your opinion. Use clearer sentence connections and organise each body paragraph around a main idea followed by explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “culture,” “scholarship,” “entertainment,” and “religious purpose.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “values” and “way of living.” However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow: “Penalty of individuals” appears to be an incorrect choice, and “foreigns peoples” is not natural English. Other examples include “beleives,” “indviduals,” and “doesnot.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “different foreign things.” Build accuracy with common collocations and check spelling; choosing a clear, natural phrase is more effective than using an uncertain or overly general expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if person visit China…” and clauses introduced by “who” and “to understand.” This shows some range, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction remain frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “Language help indviduals” needs a plural subject and verb, while “students also learns” has a subject–verb agreement error. “If person visit” also needs an article and a correctly formed verb. The opening “Whereas, other says…” is not a complete, well-formed sentence. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then use subordinate clauses with consistent subjects and verb forms.
