Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and give your own position, especially in the paragraph beginning “From my perspective,” so the response addresses the main parts of the question. The examples of studying abroad, personal interest in languages, and serving international clients are relevant. However, the reasons are often asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that language knowledge helps someone obtain a good job is not supported with a specific explanation or example. The first view is also treated mainly as a practical necessity, rather than exploring why some people regard travel and overseas work as the only worthwhile motives. Develop each side more fully and make your opinion clearer throughout, not only in the final body paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a statement of your opinion, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are placed together without showing how they connect. For example, the paragraph about other reasons moves from studying abroad to hobbies and then to jobs in local institutions. Some transitions, including “Firstly” and “Subsequently,” do not accurately express the relationship between the points. Group related reasons and use clearer links between claim, explanation, and example to make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “prestigious jobs,” “pursue,” “international clients,” and “indispensable role.” These choices show an effort to go beyond basic language. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear. For instance, “getting stars in hand” does not convey a clear idea in this context, and “hankering after various language centre” is not an appropriate way to describe students seeking language classes. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “learing,” “langauge,” and “instituitions.” Choose more natural phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your ideas more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as” and “where,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited by frequent errors in sentence construction and basic grammar. For example, “there are only one reason” has an agreement error, while “One compelling reason is for studying abroad, students should learn foreign languages” joins ideas without a correct grammatical connection. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “in foreign country” and “new placed.” Some sentences are incomplete or awkwardly formed, such as “Without language is impossible to obtain a good job.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use conjunctions or punctuation to connect clauses correctly.
