Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify both views and state an opinion: the introduction says language learning can support employment and travel, while your own view highlights education and cultural understanding. However, the discussion is only partial. The first body paragraph develops travel and work with a relevant example about students communicating in a foreign country, but the second paragraph merely repeats that language helps with culture and education; it gives no explanation or example. Your position is therefore present but not fully supported, and the response ends without a developed conclusion. The response contains 211 words, which is 39 words below the 250-word minimum; 8 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the second view and add a clear concluding statement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “On the one hand,” and another beginning “On the other hand.” These markers help readers recognise the two sides. However, progression is weak because the second body paragraph is only one sentence and repeats points already mentioned rather than explaining them. The introduction’s “Although” clause is not completed in a clear contrast, and the final paragraph does not bring the discussion to a conclusion. Some linking phrases, such as “As a result,” do not clearly follow from the preceding example. Build each body paragraph around one main idea, explain it, and connect the example directly to that idea; then use a separate conclusion to restate your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “employment opportunities,” “communicate with local residents,” “academic activities,” and “culture.” This gives you enough language to convey the general subject, and some phrases show an attempt to be specific. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, as in “a significant number of populations,” “provide a work opportunity in abroad countries,” and “familiar their culture.” Spelling errors such as “challanges,” “foregin,” “benefical,” and “guman-being” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated uses of “helps” with precise verbs such as “enables,” “supports,” or “broadens” would also make the discussion more varied.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a contrastive opening with “While” and a longer example introduced by “For example.” These attempts show some range, but control is inconsistent and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For instance, “Learning foreign language create” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Although, foreign languages provide…” is an incomplete or incorrectly punctuated construction. In “it helps to understand other country's culture,” the sentence structure and possessive form are not controlled. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and complete clause structures before adding more complexity. Read each sentence aloud and check that every dependent clause is attached to a complete main clause.
