Student answer (Band 5.5)

Learning a foreign language has become increasingly important in today's globalised world. While some individuals beleive that the main reason of acquiring other languages would be travel or work in forgeign countries, however others argues that there are other several reason to learning these languages. Both views will discuss below along with my own opinion at the end,

There are many factors which contribute that why forgein language would be benificial for them who are travelling or work in abroad. One of the most contributing factor is better communication with their local ones.Due to know about other languages travellers can communicate with their local residents .As they feel more connected and attached with them very easily .Consequently they never face any difficulties regarding communication .Another compelling reason for this better settlement for them who wants to settle in forgein nations as a wroker. As they familiar with their language so they will get more oppurtunitieand priority in their workplace. These days most of the forgein companies wants to hire international workers but whom who have knowledge about their local languages. As they don't feel any language barrier on their work. Thus forgein languages is not only effective for travellers but as well as provide the pathway for international workers for long term settlement.

However, others contradict it by saying that these are not compelling reason for learning foregein languages. As they consider learning these languages is not only good for travel but also put a effective result on them in terms of getting familiarty with other culture and boost their language skill power. They can be learn the diiferent culture and understand their ritituals through learning their languages as well as they can enhance their languages to use in their education sector.

In conclusion, according to me the both opinion hold equal importance. As a travel and worker in forgein country would be benificiall to learning their languageso however,it also be good for them who wants to know their local culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a personal position, so the response is relevant to the task. The first main paragraph explains practical benefits for travellers and workers, including communicating with residents and improving workplace opportunities. However, the opposing view is less fully developed: cultural understanding and education are mentioned, but neither is supported with a clear example or explanation. Your conclusion says both opinions have equal importance, while the introduction promises an opinion “at the end”; the position would be clearer if you stated directly which view you find more convincing, or why you consider both equally valid. Develop each reason with a specific example and make your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through the discussion, and transitions such as “However” and “In conclusion” help signal changes. Within paragraphs, though, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined in long or incomplete sentences, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As they feel more connected…” does not stand independently, while “As they consider…” leaves the relationship between the ideas uncertain. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each explanation directly to its main point, and check that pronouns such as “they” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “globalised world,” “language barrier,” “local residents,” and “international workers.” These choices show an effort to discuss travel, employment, and cultural benefits. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “foreign language” and “beneficial,” and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the message difficult to interpret, such as “language skill power,” “better settlement,” and “local ones.” Spelling errors, including “beleive,” “forgeign,” and “oppurtunitie,” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural topic phrases and check spelling and word forms; prefer precise expressions such as “employment prospects” or “cultural practices” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “While,” “As,” and “However.” Nevertheless, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries frequently make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “others argues,” “there are other several reason,” and “They can be learn”; the opening sentence also joins contrasting clauses awkwardly, and “As they feel more connected…” is a fragment. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding subordinate clauses. Careful proofreading for punctuation and sentence boundaries would also make your ideas easier to follow.
