Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the charts, such as the dominance of 'no other language' and the changes in Spanish and French. However, the report is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, stating that 'Spanish was occupy with 20% and French account for 15%' in 2000 is inconsistent with the provided charts. Furthermore, the description of trends is confusing, particularly the claim that 'both the languages steadily came same with 10%' in 2010. While the overview is present, the lack of precision in reporting the data points prevents a higher score. The response covers the main trends but fails to provide a clear, accurate summary of the information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'In being with' to start a paragraph or the awkward use of 'Likewise' at the end of a sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which language or year is being discussed. The logical progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by confusing phrasing and inaccurate data reporting, which affects the overall flow of the response. More varied and accurate linking words would improve the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'acme last' (likely meaning 'came last'), 'Spanish was occupy with', and 'latter language remains constant sharply'. These errors occasionally impede communication, as the reader must work to interpret the intended meaning. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'proportion' and 'significant', the overall control is weak. To improve, the student should focus on using verbs and adjectives that accurately describe trends and data points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response relies on a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('German stay constant', 'languages remains'), incorrect verb forms ('was occupy'), and awkward sentence construction ('No other language was in highest proportion with 35% in 2010'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalisation and misuse of semicolons. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors is high, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence structure and tense consistency is essential.
