Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the description is incomplete; the response cuts off abruptly in the second paragraph while discussing 2010 data, meaning the task is not fully addressed. While there is an attempt to identify main features and make comparisons, the lack of completion prevents a full overview or a comprehensive summary of the data. To improve, ensure you complete the analysis of all categories and meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'In 2000', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors, such as 'In, 2000'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, complete structure that guides the reader through the data logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'proposition' instead of 'proportion' and 'british' (which should be capitalised). The phrasing 'had not change' is grammatically incorrect and demonstrates a lack of precision. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic information, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied terminology for describing trends and data, and ensure you use the correct word forms for nouns and verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The pie charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'students which only speaks' (relative pronoun and agreement error), and 'over an decade' (article error). There is a limited range of sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the comma usage in 'In, 2000'. The reliance on simple sentence structures limits the ability to demonstrate complex grammatical control. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic sentence structure errors.
