Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, but there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, you state that 30% of students in 2000 spoke only English, whereas the chart shows 30% spoke no other language (the same group). Furthermore, the description of the 2010 data is confusing and contains factual errors, such as claiming 35% of students were 'not interested' in other languages, which is not supported by the chart. While you attempt to make comparisons, the misinterpretation of the data categories prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference the labels in the legend with the segments in the pie charts before writing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'According to 2010' is non-standard; 'In 2010' would be more appropriate. Additionally, the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by unclear referencing, such as 'same percentage is recorded for two other language', which makes it difficult to identify which languages are being discussed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would help the flow of your ideas significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'lied approximately in a same proportions' (should be 'lay' or 'remained'), and 'was consider by students' (should be 'was considered'). You attempt to use some descriptive language, but the lack of precision in reporting the data categories (e.g., 'another language') limits your score. Focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends and proportions, such as 'a significant proportion' or 'a marginal increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('The pie charts illustrates'), incorrect verb forms ('not able to spoke'), and tense inconsistencies ('percentages are quite similar to 2010'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
