Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to address the task fully. While the introduction attempts to paraphrase the prompt and an overview is provided, the response stops abruptly after only two sentences of analysis. Because the task is incomplete, it is impossible to provide a full summary or make all necessary comparisons between the two years. To improve, you must ensure you cover all data points presented in the charts and provide a more detailed analysis to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows some basic attempts at organization, such as using 'Overall' to signal the summary and 'In 2000' to begin the body paragraph. However, because the text is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, there is no logical progression or coherent structure. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical way, and the lack of a completed response makes it difficult to assess the overall flow of information. To improve, focus on completing your sentences and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive. For example, the word 'proportion' is used repeatedly, and there are errors in word choice, such as 'different language' instead of 'different languages' and 'showed downward trend' which lacks an article. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure you use correct collocations, such as 'a downward trend' or 'an upward trend'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are several grammatical errors in the short text provided. For instance, 'at one university england' is missing a preposition, and 'French and German language has also increase' contains both a subject-verb agreement error and a tense error ('has also increased'). The sentence structures are simple, and the abrupt ending prevents the demonstration of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that you use the correct verb tenses when describing data from the past.
