The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

From both pie-charts, we can see the percentage of British students in a university who are capable of speaking other languages including English in the year 2000 and 2010.

According to the chart, in 2000, 20% of the students were able to speak in Spanish but that number dropped to 10% in 2010. Same happened with French speakers, decreasing from 15% to 10% from the year 2000 to 2010.

On the other hand, numbers of students who are able to speak another language rose from 15% in 2000 to 20% in 2010. Apart from this, 10% of the students were able to speak two other languages in 2000 compared to 15% in 2010. In addition to that, quantity of students who weren't able to speak any language other than English, grew from 30% to 35% from the year 2000 to 2010.

An interesting fact which can be observed from the chart that proportion of students who are able to speak in German didn't change overtime. It was 10% in both the year 2000 and 2010.
