Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided charts, but the analysis is inconsistent and lacks clarity. While you identify some key features, the description of the data is often confusing, particularly in the paragraph regarding 'another language' and the final paragraph about 'two other languages.' The overview is weak and does not clearly highlight the most significant trends, such as the increase in French speakers or the decline in Spanish speakers. To improve, ensure you clearly group data points and provide a more accurate summary of the overall trends rather than listing individual figures without sufficient context or comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In 2000' and 'In 2010' at the start of sentences. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') would help create a smoother flow between your observations.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'difference', 'speak', and 'percentage'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'The another language having no much difference' and 'major majority'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'witnessed a decline', or 'proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'students speak 15%, but in 2010 they speaks 20%') and sentence structure (e.g., 'The students that speaks German languages is really similar'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
