Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data, but the information provided is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, you state that students who spoke no other language in 2000 were 'slighlty decade' (an unclear term) and then provide figures that do not clearly align with the chart. The description of the 2010 data contains several errors, such as claiming Spanish and French declined to 10% when the chart shows different trends. While you cover the main categories, the lack of precision in reporting the data and the failure to make clear, accurate comparisons between the two years significantly hinders the task achievement. To improve, focus on accurately transcribing the data points and using clear comparative language.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into an introduction and two body paragraphs, which is a standard structure. However, the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. Phrases like 'where the students who spoke spanish were 20%' and 'Decade later' are used in a way that makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, leading to a disjointed reading experience. The paragraphing is present, but the internal coherence within the paragraphs is weak because the sentences do not connect logically to one another.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms and struggle with word choice, such as using 'proposition' instead of 'proportion', and 'decade' as a verb. There are also frequent issues with word forms, such as 'spanish' (should be capitalized) and 'french' (should be capitalized), and 'no other languges'. The lack of precision in reporting the data is compounded by the limited vocabulary, which prevents you from describing the trends with the necessary academic tone. You need to expand your range of reporting verbs and nouns to describe statistical changes more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response that often impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the proposition... are slighlty decade'), incorrect verb tenses ('it illustarted'), and awkward sentence structures ('with french spoken they were 15 %'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalization of words like 'Students', 'Spoke', and 'Spainsh'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences that are often grammatically flawed. To reach a higher band, you must focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb tense usage, and consistent punctuation.
