The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The pie charts given illustrates the percentage of british students that are multilingual in a certain university in england in the years 2000 and 2010.
Overall, It is clear that majority of the students in both the given years cannot speak any other languages aside from english. While the students who can speak other languages mostly speak spanish or french and afew other languages.
In the two pie charts it is quite clear that in 2010 about 35% of british students were incapable of speaking another language besides english. This means that a 5% increase is observed in this category since 2010 when the percentage was about 30%; meanwhile, the porportion of students speaking german only or two other languages have seen fluctuations from 2000 to 2010.
Spanish and french were the two most spoken langauges in 2000 but were spoken less in 2010 moving them from 20% and 15% to 10% for both. it is also clear that most students can speak more than 2 languages in 2010
