Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only minimally, falling short of the required word count with a length of 119 words instead of the minimum 150 words. While you have attempted to report some features from the charts, such as the 5% increase in students with no other language and the drop in Spanish and French speakers, the overall coverage is limited and lacks a clear, comprehensive overview. Furthermore, some of your interpretations at the end, such as suggesting that more students from Germany are getting enrolled, drift into speculation rather than strictly summarising the provided visual data. To improve, ensure you meet the word count, cover all main features systematically, and maintain a purely factual summary without unsupported assumptions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The information and ideas are not arranged coherently, and the response suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, as all sentences are lumped together into a single block of text. There is an absence of clear overall progression, and cohesive devices are inadequate or missing, making the transitions between different data points abrupt. For instance, jumping from Spanish and French percentages directly to an unsupported conclusion about German student enrollment disrupts the logical flow. To achieve a higher band, you need to group related information into distinct paragraphs and use appropriate cohesive links to connect your ideas logically and smoothly guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, employing a limited range adequate only for simple communication. There are noticeable lexical and spelling errors that affect precision, such as spelling 'students' as 'studnets', 'language' as 'languge', and writing 'if learning languages increase kn number' instead of 'of learning languages increase in the number'. Phrases like 'showed difference in their interest' are rather unnatural and imprecise. To improve your lexical score, you should expand your range of vocabulary by incorporating more precise synonyms and academic collocation phrases to describe trends and proportions, while carefully proofreading your work to eliminate basic spelling slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your grammar displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. There are notable issues with verb tenses and agreement, such as 'Percentage of students speaking German remained same' missing an article, and 'increase kn number of people speaking German langauge It means...' which results in a run-on sentence. Punctuation is also mishandled, particularly with missing spaces after full stops. To enhance your grammatical range and accuracy, you should practice using a wider variety of complex sentence forms, ensure proper subject-verb agreement and article usage, and pay closer attention to sentence boundaries and punctuation.
