Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant figures for 2000, including the 30% with no other language, Spanish at 20%, and German and two other languages at 10% each. You also note some changes by 2010, such as Spanish falling and the share speaking another language rising. However, the response only partially summarises the charts: it gives little clear account of the 2010 distribution, and the overview repeats that Spanish was most popular without recognising that in 2010 no other language was the largest category at 35%. The claim that Spanish was the most popular foreign language applies to 2000, not both years. Focus the overview on the main shifts and compare the categories accurately across both dates.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an opening, an overview and further details, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In 2010” help signal the topic. However, progression is difficult to follow because the first paragraph is unclear, the overview and conclusion repeat similar points, and the final sentences (“the languages speaking range is not same” and “change their range”) do not add specific information. Some linking is inaccurate or incomplete, as in “Not Other, . languages also spoken increased 5%.” Use one paragraph for the overview and separate paragraphs for the two years or for the main comparisons. Connect each figure to a clear comparison so the reader can follow the changes.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “accounting for,” “decreased,” “increased,” and “most popular,” which helps communicate basic comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spelling errors make the report harder to understand: “ratio” is not the best term for chart proportions, “practices 2010” is unclear, and “Germoan,” “foriegn,” and “persantage” are misspelled. Phrases such as “speaking languages range” and “great achivement to calculate” are also unnatural for describing chart data. Build a more precise set of terms for proportions and trends, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences, for example, “Overall, the largest population of students (30%) cannot speak other languages while the Spanish most popular additional language…,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty. The opening has no clear grammatical connection between its clauses, and “They started in 2000 and practices 2010” has an unclear subject and inconsistent verb form. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “Spanish languages decreased 10%” and “French language also decreased 5%Not Other.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to interpret. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense reporting for the two chart years.
