Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report most of the chart figures accurately, including the 2000 values and the rise in “No Other Language” to 35% in 2010. However, the response gives little meaningful summary of the main features: the overview says only that there are “noticeable differences” and that categories fluctuate, without identifying the key changes. In particular, it misses that Spanish fell from 20% to 10%, while “Another language” and “Two other languages” increased, and German remained unchanged. The phrase “there is no stability in all the activities” also conflicts with the stable German figure. The response therefore covers the data only partially and relies heavily on listing figures. State the main trends clearly and compare the years directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two years. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is limited because the body paragraphs mostly list categories rather than grouping related changes or making direct comparisons. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “Let's have a look at remaning information,” and “This show a clear compaision” does not explain what is being compared. The overview also repeats general statements instead of guiding the reader through the key trends. Organise the details around increases, decreases, and unchanged figures, using clear references to both years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentages,” “categories,” “French only,” and “Another language,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “fluctuations increment as well as decrement” is an awkward way to describe changes between two years, and “these process submit” does not communicate a clear idea. There are also spelling errors such as “compaision,” “remaning,” and “other then.” Use precise trend language such as “rose,” “fell,” and “remained unchanged,” and check spelling and natural phrasing before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. The overview begins “it can that there are,” which is missing a necessary verb construction, while “This show” has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “According to the chart” lacks a complete grammatical frame before the list of figures, and “the british students able to speak…” repeatedly omits the verb “were.” Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, including spaces before full stops. Build accurate simple sentences first—for example, “In 2000, 30% of students spoke no other language”—then add comparisons using controlled clauses such as “whereas” or “while.”
