Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the need for recycling and the role of government intervention. However, the position is not clearly established or maintained throughout the essay. While you suggest awareness programs and recycling centers, the argument regarding whether laws are strictly necessary is somewhat underdeveloped. You focus more on general solutions rather than directly debating the effectiveness or necessity of legal requirements versus other methods. To improve, ensure you explicitly state your stance in the introduction and consistently support that specific position throughout each paragraph, ensuring all parts of the prompt are addressed with equal depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While you use some cohesive devices like 'moreover', 'for instance', and 'in conclusion', their usage is sometimes mechanical or incorrectly placed. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic terms like 'things', 'rubbish', and 'material' where more specific academic vocabulary would be appropriate. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'reusing' instead of 'recycled' and 'reutilize' instead of 'reused'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues and government policy, and pay closer attention to the correct form of words (e.g., nouns vs. verbs).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the other say'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the number diseases also reach to its lowest level'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing your use of error-free complex sentences will also help improve your score.
