Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this day and age, environmental pollution is increasing day-by-day from the household waste which is not being recycled. Some people opine that to improve the recycling of wastage from homes, the only possible solution is if authorities make it compulsory for citizens to take care of their garbage. I partially agree to this notion and give my valid reasoning in the paragraphs below.
It is worth considering that residential area accounts for majority of waste collected from all over the city and results in consuming land spaces for dump yards. Consequently this garbage dose not decompose easily because it contains materials like plastics, papers, cans etc. For instance, people buy groceries and bring plastic bags home which is than directly discarded into the dustbin along with the wet waste. Furthermore, the municipality van collects this waste and damps it on open ground without separating the once that are capable of being recycled.
To prevent this, government should implement strict rules for disposing waste according to their nature (i.e. wet, dry, recyclable, non-recyclable). Moreover, it is also important to provide the correct information regarding waste materials and appropriate steps to discard them for which state should spread awareness. In addition, authorities should introduce various waste recycling schemes to motivated citizens from making efforts for the same.
However, not only government but also residents should consciously gather renewable materials separately and handover it to scrap venders rather than throwing everything in the dustbin.
To conclude, in my opinion, it is true that to ensure maximum disposables get renewed government should make legal actions as well as provide sufficient knowledge to the population. Meanwhile, as a citizen of nation masses should actively participate in it by seperating waste according to this proprt

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of government legislation in recycling. You clearly state a position of partial agreement in the introduction. The ideas are relevant, such as the need for waste segregation and public awareness, though some points could be more deeply developed. For instance, the argument regarding the government's role could be expanded with more specific examples of how legal requirements might look in practice. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task, and your position remains clear throughout the essay, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Consequently', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. The conclusion is abrupt and appears to be cut off mid-sentence, which affects the overall coherence of the final paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring all sentences are complete would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'environmental pollution', 'compulsory', and 'municipality'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'damps it' instead of 'dumps it' and 'scrap venders' instead of 'scrap vendors'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some inaccuracies persist. To reach a higher band, focus on more precise collocations and ensure spelling is accurate, as errors like 'seperating' and 'proprt' (likely 'proper') detract from the professional tone of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'residential area accounts' (should be 'residential areas account'), 'than' instead of 'then', and 'motivated citizens from making' (should be 'motivate citizens to make'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a significant issue. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for common homophone errors like 'than/then' and 'damp/dump'.
