Student answer (Band 6.5)
Part of society assumes that not enough of the waste at home is being recycled and the only way to tackle this issue is for the government to consume law for it.
To start with, recycling is vital and also beneficial for our environment. We can use arrears to produce new products, for instance, create a new household equipment. It helps a lot of aspects, like countries economics, which in fact develops states. It also diminishes poverty, which is most common problem today.
In addition, in many countries there are rules for it. For example, in Germany, citizens recycle plastic bottles and in return they get money from it. Nevertheless, in my country people just throw away every single thing, not thinking how essential it is for everything. That's why our country is not enhanced much. People just do not think about a waste, yet it has negative impact on our atmosphere. In my state, it is said that ,,a waste is waste" and you need to move on. Even if only one person tries to deal with this issue, then many will do it. But, at first they have to have internal culture to solve any problem we are facing.
In conclusion, it is necessary to recycle every little thing we use, even plastic bottles or wood forks and spoons. We should think about every move we make, because in the future it might have pros. Consequently, in countries like mine, it is paramount to have laws for it, and people who would not uphold it, should have fees for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of government legislation in recycling. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of recycling and provide a brief example from Germany, the connection between these points and the necessity of legal requirements is not fully explored. The argument remains somewhat superficial, particularly in the second paragraph where the focus shifts to personal culture rather than the effectiveness of laws. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph directly supports your position on whether laws are the best or only way to increase recycling, providing more detailed reasoning and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To start with', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition from discussing economic benefits to the situation in your home country is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'it' in 'in many countries there are rules for it', which could be more precisely defined to improve the overall cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You use some basic terms like 'a waste is waste' and 'move on', which are informal and imprecise. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'consume law' (instead of 'enact legislation') and 'arrears' (which usually refers to unpaid debt, not recycled materials). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'diminishes poverty' and 'paramount', the overall range is limited. Focusing on more academic collocations and precise terminology will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. Examples include 'create a new household equipment' (should be 'create new household equipment'), 'countries economics' (should be 'a country's economy'), and 'most common problem' (should be 'the most common problem'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and quotation marks. While your meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and article usage.
