Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement.

The waste from home is a global phenomenon that happens everyday in the each corner of the cities ,villages and towns .In a countryside and in the cities .This waste can be made useful for the betterment of the economy of the country .To make the people do more and more recycling of the waste from the homes ,the Government should have to participate to facilitate the public with instruments or with the equipment required for recycling . It is the responsibility of the government to make the arrangements for the machinery used for the recycling of the waste of the homes ,so that people can operate these machines to make their home`s waste, a valuable product .

In the advanced countries like America ,Canada and China have managed the waste of the homes in a well organized way .These countries have all the recycling machines and proper teams to collect the waste and put it in the recycling machines and obtain the good quality byproducts .

The governments should have to imply the different laws to make the people recycle more of their waste .No doubt , its a government who can make the people of the country to recycle the home waste .The different states in the world have managed to use the waste in proper and well established systems for the waste materials to be recycled again and again .

In the end , I`m of the opinion that the claim of some of the people that not enough of the waste from home is recycled in few undeveloped countries and no doubt ,its a responsibility of the government to make it a legal requirement to increase recycling .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of government in recycling. However, the development of ideas is limited. You suggest that governments should provide equipment for individuals to recycle at home, which is a somewhat impractical and underdeveloped argument. The essay lacks a clear, consistent position throughout; while you eventually agree that laws are necessary, the initial focus on providing machinery rather than legislation makes the argument feel disjointed. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports your stance on whether legal requirements are the most effective solution compared to other methods like education or infrastructure investment.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between them is weak. The transition between discussing government-provided machinery and the mention of countries like America and China is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or used in a mechanical way, such as the frequent use of 'The' at the start of sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when you mention 'these machines' without a clear antecedent. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good quality' and 'well organized way'. There are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'imply the different laws' (should be 'implement' or 'enforce') and 'in the each corner'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'sustainability', 'legislative framework', 'waste management infrastructure') limits the score. Focus on learning collocations related to environmental issues to enhance your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('in a countryside', 'the waste from home'), subject-verb agreement ('its a government who can make'), and awkward phrasing ('the Government should have to participate'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for articles and verb forms.
