Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is undeniable that pollution become a pensive concern in this modern era. In this regard few people think that not enough waste of waste from homes is recycled while other opine that only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirements. I agree to large extent with this notion due to many reasons which will outline in forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion.
To commence with, increase recycling is for governments to make it legal requirements Firstly the fear to pay fine. To explain it, many people does not like to pay huge amount of fine cares about the government rules. as a result, people have fear and will not throw the waste outside. secondly, help to reduce the level of pollution. to elaborate it there will be a great reduce in pollution as people will not the waste outside and government also introduce camps and aware public about the disadvantages of waste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 159 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address the prompt by expressing a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The essay is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'however', which prevents a full discussion of the topic. Consequently, the response is only a partial attempt at the task, as the ideas are not extended or fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt to use basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'secondly', the overall structure is fragmented. Paragraphing is present but the content within the paragraphs is repetitive and lacks depth. The abrupt ending further disrupts the flow of the argument, making the overall arrangement feel disjointed and unfinished.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'pollution become a pensive concern' (likely meaning 'pressing') and 'forthcoming fragments' (an unnatural collocation). There is a reliance on basic vocabulary and some repetition of phrases from the prompt. While the meaning is generally understandable, the range is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. More precise terminology related to environmental policy and waste management is needed.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('pollution become', 'many people does not like') and awkward sentence construction ('increase recycling is for governments to make it legal requirements'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and improper use of full stops. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the message.
